Mr. Colori is a chameleon - ka-mail-eon - in a French comic book. This colourful figure inspires me mixing his changing colours and my ideas, showing signs of daily life.
My real name is Toon Joosen (1947). I am a teacher of history and morphology of art in Tilburg, The Netherlands. Art education at the school where I teach young people is a very old tradition. Vincent van Gogh was a student of our school in the 19th. century. He had his first drawinglessons from my predecessor. In 1990 I based a mailart project on this fact. I am very proud to be an art teacher in this particular historic environment.
In my work as a mail-artist I prefer to relate the ideas of classic mythology to those of modern times, spiritual an visual expression of the big artists from the past to my perception of every day. Not much has changed in my opinion and we are all participants in the formative causation, creating a different United Europe from that of the tradesmen.
By participating in most of
the mail-art circuits I try to stay in touch with the fluctuation of
ideas of artists all over the world.
